The 1980s remains a public memory that everyone reminisced about. A millennium to Lamka, as this was the era where the town saw its first beauty pageants, from Miss Churachandpur to Miss Kut while the cinema was the collective confluence. The decade also saw the growth of concerts

Churachandpur Cinema Hall was established by Pu Thangzam Gangte in 1965 introducing the town folks to the world of cinema. The Churachandpur Cinema Hall at New Bazar in the year 1983.

The iconic Dharamdev Pishorimal Anand, better known as Dev Anand visited Lamka Town during the 1980s.

Pu Lalsuonglien of Nehru Marg was Mr Kut, 1985 while Pi Rose Lalthangnem of Bungmual was crowned Miss Kut, 1985

Rebec Siemlien was crowned the first ever Miss Churachandpur of 1985-86.
